Mr Dipalma, I was wondering if it would be possible to set up my FirstClass email account to recieve messages on my PowerBook's mail program, and on my iPhone. Is it possible for an account to be set up this way? If so, which protocol is it (IMAP, POP, Exchange), and what are the incoming and outgoing mail servers.

Thank you

John Beeler

Hi John .... I am really impressed that you are asking to do this. Would you believe that not one other person has ever asked if this can be done? Sad, isn't it? I congratulate you on your technical expertise and ability to investigate the various ways that different technologies can be used! I know that your technical expertise will be a great benefit to you in later life. :)

OK .... basically, our mail server is set up to handle POP protocols ..... I am pasting some screen shots below that show how my Mail program is set up. Pictures make it easier than me trying to list the various settings you need.
The second picture is the screen you will see when you click on the Server Settings button in window #1.
One thing to keep in mind is that I don't allow mail to be sent from smtp.sedona.k12.az.us without authentication ... that prevents people from using us as a relay. It is important to be sure you set up the outgoing mail server tab to be MD5 Challenge-Response, and include your username and password, otherwise you won't be able to send mail.

I'm not sure how the setup will look on the iPhone because I don't have one, but I'm sure it will be similar and that you will have no problem now that you have all of the info you need to set it up.

BTW ... I'm sure you already know this, but just in case you don't ... you can download the FirstClass client and install it on your home computer so you can use it just like at school ... I have Mac & PC clients available. Check the link at the top of this page:

If you need any help, please don't hesitate to contact me.
And please let me know how it goes for you!
Once again ... great job!
